I didn’t dwell on Feelgood after we split but doing the interviews for the film and book I had to talk about Lee and it made me realize how much he meant to me and how close we were. A lot of what happened to me is because of him and us just bumping into each other. If it hadn’t been for Lee I may be a professor of Medieval History now. I thought when I got to this age I’d be really wise and sitting in this study with shafts of light coming through. Students would come to me to seek advice and I’d mutter some words and they’d shout ‘WHAT A GUY!’ and leave rejoicing at the wisdom I’d dispensed. It hasn’t really turned out like that at all.
